About EQ House of Africa

A home for emotional intelligence, development, and belonging.

EQ House of Africa exists because the African diaspora needed a place to be whole — not just productive, not just resilient, but emotionally seen. We are building that place.

Our story

Built by the diaspora, for the diaspora

EQ House of Africa was founded by Dr. Oyinkansola Alabi, known across Africa and the diaspora as the Emotions Doctor, after years of observing a gap that no one was naming. Africans across the world were thriving externally and quietly suffering internally. Career success, accolades, migration milestones — and underneath, an unspoken weight of identity, displacement, and emotional inheritance no one had been taught to carry.

Registered as a Texas 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EQ House of Africa is the institutional home for that work. Through our flagship program Emotions City: EIDB, we deliver emotional intelligence training, healing circles, masterclasses, and community programming designed by Africans, for Africans, anchored in our cultural traditions and contemporary realities.

Today, our community spans more than 2,345 members across 40+ countries. We have certified over 401 emotional intelligence specialists. And every Sunday, we hold space for the diaspora — for free.

"The African diaspora does not lack emotional depth. It lacks spaces designed to hold it."

What we believe

Our mission

Four convictions guide every program, partnership, and decision at EQ House of Africa.

Cultural intelligence

Emotional intelligence is shaped by culture. Our approach centres African lived experience at every level — from the language we use, to the frameworks we draw on, to the communities we build.

Tailored support

Designed for Africans by Africans. We bring deep understanding of shared diaspora experiences and what healing looks like across that context.

Community as infrastructure

Belonging is not a feeling. It is something we build together, week by week, conversation by conversation. We treat community as essential infrastructure for emotional wellbeing.

Professional growth

Emotional intelligence transforms careers and organisations. We equip African professionals with the tools to lead, navigate, and thrive in workplaces that were not built with them in mind.
